Spurgeon...
The Lord sends hard times. "You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the depths. Your wrath lies heavy upon me, and You have afflicted me" (Psalm 88:6-7).
The Lord sends good times. His is the sun that cheers and the frost that chills. His is the deep calm and the fierce tornado. To dwell on second causes is frequently frivolous. The world says, "It might have been prevented if..." Why conjecture about what would have been different if this or that had happened? This is folly.
As long as I trace my pain to accident, my bereavement to mistake, my loss to another's wrong, or my discomfort to an enemy, I am earthy and shall break my teeth with gravel (Lam 3:6). Yet when I rise to my God and see His hand at work, I grow calm and stop complaining. "I did not open my mouth, because it was You who did it" (Psalm 39:9).
David preferred to fall into God's hands, and all believers know that they are safest and happiest in divine hands. Raising objections with man is poor work. Pleading with God brings help and comfort. "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). This is a precept that will be easy to practice when you see that the burden came originally from God.

Don't Take My Word for It...
Psalm 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
You really cannot know the Lord or spiritual things unless you actually take that step of faith and experience it for yourself. Grace is accessed by faith...You will not know the peace, love and joy that comes from a life submitted to God in an intimate relationship unless you yourself take that first step.
I can tell you how wonderful it is...I can speak of His goodness and grace, but sadly you will only hear the words and not have any understanding of the depth that is behind them...the unfathomable depth of God. You cannot appreciate it because you have know first hand, "hands on" experience. You may even say aloud that you believe, but if your actions are not following your words than your heart is not there and Jesus wants your heart. Give Him your heart today! Taste and see that He is good today. Don't just take my word for it...experience it for yourself. Today is the day of salvation.
