Through the Cross of Christ…

My eyes fill with tears at this one…

In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil.—Proverbs 16:6

Beloved….Through the cross of His Son our God has provided a way for us to draw near to Him here on earth and live forever with Him in heaven.  By the mercy and truth of God in Christ Jesus, our sins are forgiven, their penalty paid for, and their power broken.  The mercy (steadfast love) of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him…He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses (says the same thing God says about their sin) and forsakes them will have mercy.

How beautiful to my heart are these precious words from Psalm 103.

6 The LORD executes righteousness

And justice for all who are oppressed.

7 He made known His ways to Moses,

His acts to the children of Israel.

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious,

Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

9 He will not always strive with us,

Nor will He keep His anger forever.

10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,

Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,

So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

12 As far as the east is from the west,

So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father pities his children,

So the LORD pities those who fear Him.

14 For He knows our frame;

He remembers that we are dust.

And these from Psalm 119…

9 How can a young man cleanse his way?

By taking heed according to Your word.

10 With my whole heart I have sought You;

Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!

11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,

That I might not sin against You.

12 Blessed are You, O LORD!

Teach me Your statutes.

13 With my lips I have declared

All the judgments of Your mouth.

14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,

As much as in all riches.

15 I will meditate on Your precepts,

And contemplate Your ways.

16 I will delight myself in Your statutes;

I will not forget Your word.

Last one…

6 With what shall I come before the LORD,

And bow myself before the High God?

Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings,

With calves a year old?

7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,

Ten thousand rivers of oil?

Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,

The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 He has shown you, O man, what is good;

And what does the LORD require of you

But to do justly,

To love mercy,

And to walk humbly with your God?Micah 6:6-8
