The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways,
But a good man WILL BE SATISFIED from above.—Proverbs 14:14
Both the backslider and the “good” man will eat the fruit of their own way. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. The backslider will be filled with deceit and falseness and the “good” man with the things that are above. His rejoicing as it says in 2 Corinthians Chapter 1 is the testimony of his own conscience.
This is our [reason for] proud confidence: our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world [in general], and especially toward you, with pure motives and godly sincerity, not in human wisdom, but in the grace of God [that is, His gracious lovingkindness that leads people to Christ and spiritual maturity].—AMPLIFIED
