But Many Who Are First Will Be Last, And the Last First...

But many who are first will be last, and the last first.—Matthew 19:30

Thinking on this verse today and asking Father, that You place the desire to be “last” here on earth firmly on my heart....the desire that does all only for Your glory and shuns worldly glory.  Protect me, Lord, from my own wrong desires.  Keep pride from gaining a foothold...I don’t want to miss out on anything You have for me. I want only the comfort that comes from being in Your Presence as I journey through this vale of tears. Praying to have the attitude of Jesus in Philippians...

Therefore if there is any (BECAUSE THERE IS) consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.  Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,—Phil 2:1-9

But God is the Judge:
He puts down one,
And exalts another.—Ps 75:7

The LORD makes poor and makes rich;
He brings low and lifts up.—1 Samuel 2:7

But Your Servant Meditates on Your Statues...

20 My soul breaks with longing
For Your judgments at all times.
21 You rebuke the proud--the cursed,
Who stray from Your commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt,
For I have kept Your testimonies.
23 Princes also sit and speak against me
But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counselors.—Psalm 119:20-24

Father...

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.  Give me right longings...right spiritual desires.  Help me to learn obedience through my trials and to desire You more than any other thing. Make my heart a fount of living water to bless those around me.  You dwell in my heart and are my hope of glory.  There is no peace for the wicked who willfully go their own way and turn from Your law.  Their way is dark and slippery and their end is destruction.

Remove from me reproach and contempt for I have kept Your testimonies.  There are many that speak against me wrongfully.  They slander me and desire me to fall.  But I am Your beloved.  I will spend my time with You.  I will meditate on Your statutes for they are my delight and my counselors.  In my distress and dismay, I will cry out to You, my God.  You will hear my prayer.  You will not forsake those who seek You. Father...You are my Helper...my defense is of You.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.—Psalm 139:17-18

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
Let such as love Your salvation say continually,
“The LORD be magnified!”
But I am poor and needy;
Yet the LORD thinks upon me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay, O my God.—Psalm 40: 16-17
