1 Chronicles 16

and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because His mercy endures forever;1 Chronicles  16:41

At Jerusalem, where the ark was, Asaph and his brethren were appointed to attend, to minister before the ark continually, with songs of praise, as every day's work required,(vs 37)

Chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord regularly...the King James says continually before the Lord!  Would that that was my heart!   That His praise would always be in my mouth and on my heart.  Good bye to bad attitudes...goodbye to discontented spirits...goodbye to complaining and self-focus.

and all the Levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, their sons and kinsmen, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood east of the altar with 120 priests who were trumpeters; and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the LORD), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the LORD, "For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever," the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God. (2 Chron 5:12-14, ESV)

Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!  (Psalms 150:3-6)

Psalm 10:14

But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.—Psalm 10:14

Reading through Psalm 10 brought Hagar to mind when she fled from her mistress Sarai’s harsh treatment.

Hagar, Abraham’s wife, after fleeing Sarai’s harsh treatment finds herself pregnant, alone and helpless in the wilderness by a spring of water.  The Angel of the Lord appears to her here and tells her to return and submit herself under the hand of her mistress and assures her of His protection and His plan for her.  Hagar could go back and submit herself under Sarai’s hand because she knew she was really committing herself to God...to the God who saw her affliction and would look after her.

Hagar speaking...

So she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,”for she said, “Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.”—Genesis 16:13 ESV

God does see...He is our God who sees.  He knows what each of us faced yesterday and what we will face today.   He hears the cry of the humble...Truly He is the God who looks after us (me)!

1 Chronicles 15 & 16

The singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals; (1 Chronicles 15:19, ESV)

According to Henry Morris these three musicians are probably the same men whose names appear in the superscripts of some of the Psalms.  Heman - (Ps 88), Asaph - (Ps 50),  (78-83), and Ethan - (Ps 89)

Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.—1Chronicles 16:7

Verse 7 tells us David delivered a psalm of thanksgiving into the hand of Asaph on the day when he and all of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord from the house of Obedom to the place David had prepared and pitched a tent

“[T]his psalm” (see 1Chronicles 16:8-36) can be found repeated in various portions throughout the Book of Psalms.

First Chronicles 16:8-22 is repeated in Psalm 105:1-15; 1 Chronicles 16:23-33 is also found in Psalm 96:1-13 and 1 Chronicles 16:34-36 is included in Psalm 106:1, 47-48.

Also the first of 42 mentions of one of my favorite truths in the Bible occurs for the first time in the OT here. “His mercy endures forever”.  ❤️
