God Hears…

1 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me;

For I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my life, for I am holy;

You are my God;

Save Your servant who trusts in You!

3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,

For I cry to You all day long.

4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant,

For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,

And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.—Psalm 86:1-5

The words of Psalm 86 above reminded me of what Moses said in the book of. Deuteronomy.

For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,—Deuteronomy 4:7-9

As believers in Jesus these promises belongs to us. In Christ, we, who are poor and needy and weak, are the recipients of God’s faithful covenant love. We have a God who bows down His ear from the heights of heaven to hear the cries of our heart. We can plead with Him based on our weakness. We can call upon Him, as it says in Deuteronomy, for whatever reason. Like David we call upon Him because He is good, ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all who call upon Him in truth. We love Him because He first loved us.

Through us God demonstrates this faithful love because we are His servants who have placed our trust in Him. Beloved…be like Jesus…do as He did when He walked this earth. Lift up your soul to the God who keeps His promises.

7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,Hebrews 5:7-9

Oh Father!  Teach me Your way!  Help me to walk in Your truth. Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will  praise You O Lord my God, with all my heart, and will glorify Your name with my song. For great is Your mercy toward me. You have  delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom I have redemption through Your blood, and the forgiveness of my sins.

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.Romans 5:8-11
