1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
O Lord, make haste to help me!
2 Let them be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
who delight in my hurt!
3 Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, “Aha, Aha!”
4 May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, “God is great!”
5 But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!—Psalm 70
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.—Psalm 121
In his distress David sought God. I love that about David because over the years his example has taught me to do the same. I truly want to live every moment of my life in communion with God…depending on Him, trusting Him and looking to Him. I am, however, a slow learner. What would help?
In verse 5 David says this:
But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!
Oh Father..Help me to see myself as David sees himself…but I am poor and needy. It is in my weakness and my insufficiency that I cry out to you. And it is then that You delight to draw near and answer.
