Let Brotherly Love Continue…

 Let brotherly love continue.Hebrews 13:1

Hebrews 13 is filled with beautiful exhortations. Taking them one at a time this week. This morning I did not get farther than verse 1.

Let brotherly love continue. The word continue here means to abide, to dwell or to sojourn.  Beloved…dwell in love toward your fellow believers.  Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. Jesus says this in

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."John 13:34-35

How will ALL know that we are of God? If we have love for one another.

Oh Father!  I am so very grateful for my family in Christ.  Help me to love them fervently from a pure heart.  Help me to be good to all people but especially to those of the household of faith.  BY Your precious Spirit who dwells within in me may I not only walk in Your love toward others, but also through love, serve them. In You there is affection, consolation and mercy.  In You there is the fellowship and unity of the Spirit.  Oh, help me to be likeminded with Your Son toward those You have placed in my life.  May my “agenda” always be Yours.  May I esteem others better than myself.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.—1 John 4:7-11
