The Lord is Compassionate and Gracious…

 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;

And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

And forget not all His benefits:

3 Who forgives all your iniquities,

Who heals all your diseases,

4 Who redeems your life from destruction,

Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.—Psalm 103:1-5

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.… Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. —Psalm 103: 8–11, 13–14

Sometimes life can go really fast and feel like it is spinning out of control. Decisions and choices seem monumental in the light of what our actual future could look like.  Proverbs 3:5-6 is my go to in “normal times” but there are times in life where my steps falter and my faith slips. Panic attempts to take hold and I desperately need to know God is there and is holding me up.  Last night threatened to be one of those times.

The Spirit of God used the verses above to remind me of God’s sovereign care and brought much comfort. He who has redeemed my life from true destruction and everlasting terror, was with me and on my side.  As my heart read those words, my compassionate Father’s care for me became evident.  His peace enveloped me and I slept.  Truly when anxieties assault, His consolations bring joy and peace to my soul. The LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—

From whence comes my help?

2 My help comes from the LORD,

Who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;

He who keeps you will not slumber.

4 Behold, He who keeps Israel

Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is your keeper;

The LORD is your shade at your right hand.

6 The sun shall not strike you by day,

Nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil;

He shall preserve your soul.

8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in

From this time forth, and even forevermore.Psalm 121

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;

And let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns."—1 Chronicles 16:31
