To Be Likeminded with Christ…

1 We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. 3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.” 4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. 5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, 6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.—Romans 15:1-6

This passage is such a beautiful picture of the body of Christ living and behaving toward one another sympathetically and unselfishly.   I so want this to be true of me in my own life…To live dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Father…By Your precious Spirit who dwells in me may my life be spent encouraging the disheartened, edifying the uncertain and anxious, comforting the faint-hearted, upholding the weak and being patient with all.  Father, rescue me from the tyranny of “me”!  Help me to care about those things that you care about.  May Your Spirit use Your word to direct my heart, mind and body to fulfill each and every purpose You have for me.

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;—Romans 12:10

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ—Galatians 6:2

19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.—1 Corinthians 9:19-22

fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.—Philippians 2:2-4

8 Open your mouth for the speechless,

In the cause of all who are appointed to die.

9 Open your mouth, judge righteously,

And plead the cause of the poor and needy.—Proverbs 31:8-9
