Day 23 - Genesis 47; Psalm 19 - Thru the Bible 2019

Bible Readings:  Genesis 46:1-47:31; Matthew 15:1-28; Psalm 19:1-14; Proverbs 4:14-19

Since I am currently studying the book of Philippians this passage jumped off the page and reminded me that Jacob saw his life as a pilgrimage...His true citizenship like Paul’s was in heaven.

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage."—Genesis 47:9

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as [in] a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;....13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.--Hebrews 11:9, 13(NKJV)

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,Philippians 3:20

Praying I can hold on lightly to the things of this world remembering that this world is not my home..I am a heavenly citizen!

❤️Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,Hebrews 12:1

In reading Psalm 19 this morning, I made the connection for probably the very first time between the two things being discussed in this Psalm.  It is obvious, but it escaped my notice until today.  David speaks of two of the major ways that God reveals Himself to us...first, through His creation and second, through His word. Both of which are beyond the comprehension of our finite minds.  (At least mine, anyway). In addition, this same awesome Creator desires a relationship with me!  This too, is beyond my comprehension!

“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You VISIT him?”--Psalm 8:4 (NKJV)

Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM.--John 14:23 (NKJV)

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, AND he WITH ME.--Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)
