Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. 3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.—Titus 3:1-7
I love this...so convicting. Obey...be ready for every good work...speak evil of no one...be peaceable, gentle...showing ALL humility to ALL men. Remember that you, also were once as they are...
foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
But God, because of His great love with which He loved US...even when we were dead in trespasses and sin...sent His Beloved Son to die for us so that we could live eternally with Him. He did it not because we were anything specially...He did it because He is merciful and kind. He also gave us His Spirit to empower us, help us, dwell in us, bring us comfort, and abide with us forever.
We (believers) are to be like He was in this world. We are to make His footsteps our pathway. Our God is merciful, gracious, patient and kind. His sacrificial love speaks to all saying:
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”—Matthew 11:28-30
Beloved... By His precious Spirit then, be imitators of God..be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. It is the kindness, grace and love of Christ through the Spirit that has the power to change hearts and bring sinners to repentance.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”—John 3:16-21
