“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
And whose hope is the LORD.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.—Jeremiah 17:7-8
I so want to be the man that is described here! I want my delight to be in the Lord my God who keeps me in His perfect peace, who perfects what concerns me, who performs all things for me and who prospers me as I put my trust in Him.
Beloved…Take hold of His promise! Let Him be your trust. Let Him be your peace. Let Him be your hope. Let Him be your stay. When your heart is overwhelmed with anxiety and fear, flee to the Rock that is higher than you.
Be my strong refuge,
To which I may resort continually;
You have given the commandment to save me,
For You are my rock and my fortress.—Psalm 71:3
Fill your heart mind, and soul with His word. Let it fill to overflowing. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime and in the night His song shall be with you. When your soul is cast down, remember Him. Remember Him who gives beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Remember the truth that David said so perfectly.
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God—Psalm 42:11
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall on me,"
Even the night shall be light about me;—Psalm 139:7-11
