For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.—Deuteronomy 7:6-8
I love this Scripture…
The Lord did not choose Israel to be His special treasure or set His love upon them because they were more in number than any other people for they were the least of all peoples; but because He loved them. There was nothing in them that would make Him choose them. They, like me, were no great shakes…my pride needs to hear this every day.
The Lord did not set His love upon me because I was somehow different or special but simply because He loved me. This, aside from crushing my ever present pride, brings me much comfort. God loves me not because there is anything special about me…not because of what I can do for Him…not because I am mighty or have something great to offer…He chose me because of who He is..not because of who I am. There is nothing good in me. Nothing lovable. Anything good in me is Him…not me.
God loves me just because He loves me. His love for me does not change based on my performance. He chose me before the foundation of the world…before I could do any good or any bad. His love for me is without conditions. I can’t make Him love me more or love me less. He does not change. I never have to worry about where I stand with Him no matter what I have done or will do because having been been justified, I stand in grace..in His permanent favor.
and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt—Deuteronomy 6:8
Beloved…God is faithful. God made a promise to your fathers,” Moses reminded the children of Israel. “And He will keep His Word.” The promises of God to you and me as believers are in His word. Heaven and earth may pass away but the word of God abides forever. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it til the day of Jesus Christ. Trust Him.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.—1 John 4:18-19
