LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!
Many are they who rise up against me.
Many are they who say of me,
"There is no help for him in God."
Selah
But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.—Psalm 3:
I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.
Selah—Psalm 3:1-4
Beloved…This morning I am rejoicing as I meditate on these inspired words of David
“But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,”
What a beautiful truth to spend your day thinking about!
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.—Philippians 4:8
I looked up a few similar verses…
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
And my favorite…
"Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."
I love thinking of the Lord as my shield. Anything that comes my way has to go through Him first. I can lean back and rest on the everlasting, wraparound presence of God today. He alone makes me dwell in safety.
Leaving some Scripture I found on this precious truth that blessed me this morning. Praying that you will also be encouraged.
Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.—Psalm 33:20
Happy are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD,
The shield of your help
And the sword of your majesty!
Your enemies shall submit to you,
And you shall tread down their high places."—Deuteronomy 33:29
So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. So when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, "Strike this people, I pray, with blindness." And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.—2 Kings 6:16-18
For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
The LORD will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
O LORD of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!—Psalm 84:11-12
O Israel, trust in the LORD;
He is their help and their shield.
O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD;
He is their help and their shield.
You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD;
He is their help and their shield.
The LORD has been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
He will bless those who fear the LORD,
Both small and great.—Psalm 115:9-13
Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.—Proverbs 30:5
Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.—Daniel 6:23
