The selected Scriptures from my Bible reading this morning read like a beautiful prayer filling my heart with His right desires.
The psalmist speaking my heart says…
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.—Psalm 91:1-2;4
God speaking in response
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
The psalmist proclaiming in complete agreement with my heart the utter goodness of the covenant love and faithfulness of our sovereign God.
1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night,—Psalm 92:1-2
Beloved…
If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?—Romans 8:31-32
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.—Romans 8:35-39
This morning I echo the inspired words of David from Psalm 19:
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.—Psalm 19:7-11
Father…In the secret place of Your Presence I live securely. Under Your shadow, I am safe. You are my refuge, my sanctuary and my stability. Nothing can stand against me because You, who are all powerful, shelter me. You are my God…In You, will I trust and of You will I sing and give thanks forever and ever.
