The Hidden Ones…

14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,

In the secret places of the cliff,

Let me see your face,

Let me hear your voice;

For your voice is sweet,

And your face is lovely.”—Solomon 2:14

Beloved, as a believer in Jesus, we are the hidden ones…We are hidden in the secret place of His Presence.  Tucked away in the cleft of the Rock that is Christ, we are protected and safe. Nothing can separate us from His love. When our Father in Heaven sees us, He sees His Son, Jesus. We are in our own eyes, dark and filled with sin, but in His eyes, covered with the righteousness that comes through our faith in Christ, we are fair.

15 Behold, you are fair, my love!

Behold, you are fair!

You have dove’s eyes.—Song of Solomon 1:15

As we surrender to the love of Christ poured out in our hearts, the Holy Spirit shines through the eyes of our soul.  The indwelling presence of our Lord makes us beautiful. When we look to Him we are radiant, our faces unashamed.

18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.2 Corinthians 3:18

6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.—2 Corinthians 4:6

I don’t know about you, but I need to take hold of this beautiful truth each and every day and lift up my face and my voice to Him in prayer. The ugliness that is inherent in me and the ugliness that is of the world can keep me from crying out to the One who is ready and willing to listen and to help. He wants to see my face. He wants me to turn my countenance toward Him and come boldly to His throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in my time of need. To Him we can speak freely, without doubts, shame, hesitation or fear.  He will never…no not ever…cast us out.

Let me see your face,

Let me hear your voice;

For your voice is sweet,

And your face is lovely

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,

Consider my meditation.

2 Give heed to the voice of my cry,

My King and my God,

For to You I will pray.

3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;

In the morning I will direct it to You,

And I will look up.—Psalm 5:1-3

Beloved…He bids me us come…He desires to be our shadow from the heat, and our refuge from the storm. He wants us to find our satisfaction and our rest in Him and in Him alone. Lift your voice to the One who desires to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think.

3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods,

So is my beloved among the sons.

I sat down in his shade with great delight,

And his fruit was sweet to my taste.—Song of Solomon 2:3
