The LORD is For Me!!

4 Let those who fear the LORD now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
5 I called on the LORD in distress;
The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place.
6 The LORD is on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
7 The LORD is for me among those who help me;
Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in princes.—Psalm 118:4-9

I read these words this morning and as the Psalmist did, praised God for His everlasting, undeserved mercy toward me. When I first came to the Lord, I was told that verse 8 was the center verse of the Bible.  I don’t know if that is true, but it impressed me then, and impresses me even more now because I have experienced the truth of these words.  The Lord IS my strength and my song and He has become my salvation. I CAN trust Him. Psalm 40 comes to mind.

I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
3 He has put a new song in my mouth--
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the LORD.—Psalm 40:1-3

The LORD is on my side!  The LORD is among those who help me!  How can I be afraid of anything knowing that??  In my distress, HE ANSWERS ME!!  He sets me in a safe, roomy place and eases the concerns of my heart.  I look backward and I see His  sovereign, providential hand of comfort.  I look forward and my sure and certain Hope is before me.  I look to Him in the moment and my face is radiant and unashamed. God is with me and God takes care of me.  His Presence is my peace.  Oh Father, may I live to declare Your works and encourage others to place their trust in You

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!—Romans 11:33
